NDEAM 2025 Mayoral Proclamations
Disability inclusion is driving change and becoming a key factor in business success more than ever before. Mayoral proclamations of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month enhance the annual recognition of the valuable contributions people who have a disability make to businesses and communities. They also add strength to the call for all businesses in all communities to be strategic and intentional about inclusive hiring, because companies can drive their future success by fully embracing disability inclusion.
Ajax — Mayor Shaun Collier

This year, for the first time, Ajax, ON Mayor Shaun Collier proclaimed October 2025 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Aurora — Mayor Tom Mrakas
Again this year, Aurora, ON Mayor Tom Mrakas has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The Town of Aurora is also participating in Light It Up! For NDEAM again this year. The Aurora Town Square will be lit in purple and blue on October 16.
Brantford — Mayor Kevin Davis

This year, for the first time, Brantford, ON Mayor Kevin Davis proclaimed October 2025 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The City of Brantford is also participating in Light It Up! For NDEAM. The Brantford City Hall, Sanderson Centre, SOAR Community Services and Harmony Square will be specially illuminated purple and blue on October 16.
Burlington — Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
Again this year, Burlington, ON Mayor Marianne Meed Wardhas proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Halton Hills — Mayor Ann Lawlor

Again this year, Halton Hills, ON Mayor Ann Lawlor has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Newmarket — Mayor John Taylor
For another year, Newmarket, ON Mayor John Taylor has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Orangeville — Mayor Lisa Post
For another year, Newmarket, ON Mayor Lisa Post has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Quinte West — Mayor Jim Harrison
This year, for the first time, Quinte West, ON Mayor Jim Harrison proclaimed October 2025 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The City of Quinte West is also participating in Light It Up! For NDEAM. The Quinte West Sign and Veteran’s Skyway Bridge will be specially illuminated purple and blue on October 16.
Toronto — Mayor Olivia Chow

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow has again this year proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month in the province’s capital city.
NDEAM has been proclaimed in Toronto every year since 2019, when ODEN started requesting mayoral proclamations as part of our annual NDEAM campaign.
The City of Toronto has also supported Light It Up! For NDEAM since the event began in 2020.
Trent Hills — Mayor Bob Crate
This year, for the first time, Trent Hills, ON Mayor Bob Crate proclaimed October 2025 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The Municipality of Trent Hills is also participating in Light It Up! For NDEAM. The Clock Tower Cultural Centre will be specially illuminated purple and blue on October 16.
Windsor — Mayor Drew Dilkens
Again this year, Windsor, ON Mayor Drew Dilkens has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The City of Windsor is also participating in Light It Up! For NDEAM again this year. The City Hall will be lit in purple and blue on October 16. City of Windsor has participated for the past three years.
